3:10 The man replied, ¹  “I heard you moving about ²  in the orchard, and I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid.”

20:8 Early in the morning ³  Abimelech summoned ⁴  all his servants. When he told them about all these things, ⁵  they ⁶  were terrified.

[3:10]  ¹ tn Heb “and he said.”

[3:10]  ² tn Heb “your sound.” If one sees a storm theophany here (see the note on the word “time” in v. 8), then one could translate, “your powerful voice.”

[20:8]  ³ tn Heb “And Abimelech rose early in the morning and he summoned.”

[20:8]  ⁴ tn The verb קָרָא (qara’) followed by the preposition לְ (lamed) means “to summon.”

[20:8]  ⁵ tn Heb “And he spoke all these things in their ears.”

[20:8]  ⁶ tn Heb “the men.” This has been replaced by the pronoun “they” in the translation for stylistic reasons.
